It would appear that the developers behind the travesty that will be Elder Scrolls Online are open to the idea of bringing the MMO to next-gen consoles, but is there anyone even open to playing this game? Sure, The Elder Scrolls series is hugely popular and Skyrim brought the series a whole new level of success, but as far as anyone can tell the MMO is the same old affair we've been accustomed to with online RPGs, but set in Tamriel.
Sure, a rose by any other name would smell as sweet, but is rose with any other blossom certainly isn't a rose and so is the case with the Elder Scrolls MMO. It make you think, "would not a well-thought out co-op experience have served the IP better?" Time will tell, but the WoW style of MMO is fast approaching it's final days and anyone entering the market with that kind of game are almost doomed to failure unless they adopt a Free-To-Play model and even then they don't get the same kind of user base Blizzard enjoy. Speaking of Blizzard, even they aren't sticking with the WoW model, their "next-gen" MMO is rumored to be a real departure from what we currently understand a game in this space to be. I sure hope, for their sake, that ZeniMax Online Studios knows what they're doing.
